The first two busloads came in on a Saturday morning. Seventy-two passengers got off to stretch their legs and take in the panoramic views, check out the history of the area, learn about the local flora and fauna.
Then they got back on to head over to a favorite amusement park, followed up by lunch at a small diner, usually frequented by the locals.

I mentioned earlier about how so many people are not going on vacation this year because of the rising cost of gasoline, hotels and airline prices. Now some airlines are, to add insult to injury, charging for water, blankets and pillows. Who has the money to travel any more? And if you have kids, you are talking about a small fortune alone in airline costs just to get to Florida. That doesn't include the cost of the hotel and entertainment.
It can easily, without batting an eye, cost you over $5,000 to go to Disney World. I know. I've been there. And I paid for those vacations for years after on my credit cards. And I'd like to say that my kids remember them with fondness, but the truth is that they don't remember them at all.
Fortunately, Not Everywhere Is Over-Priced...
The vacations that they do remember are those that took more imagination than cash. Like the time we went hiking at night with flashlights and roasted marshmallows under the stars over the fire pit in the backyard. That's the stuff memories are made of.
While many people are opting to stay home from vacation because of the high cost of traveling, I chose this option years ago after talking to a woman named Becky at work. Becky never had any money, was a single mom and never went anywhere on vacation. But she inspired me to use my imagination and have fun vacations with my kids instead of expensive, unappreciated vacations.
Another lady at my work, Shirley, used to go on exotic vacations to Europe and Africa, and brag about them, but I noticed she always came back more stressed than ever. I became convinced that while traveling to far-away places is nice, you do not need a lot of money to enjoy a memorable vacation that's a lot of fun at home.

You know what? It made a world of difference for me and even my family! My teenagers were so excited going on these mini-home town tours. And the family was bonding.
